Bambu Lab unveiled the H3C on November 3, 2026. Its new fused-filament printer can switch between nine PrintTools, each with a dedicated filament path and heater. Bambu Lab says its system can switch materials in as little as six seconds under its specified conditions. Actual job time depends on the model and how often it changes tools.
Why separate tools matter
Every material change adds up when a job calls for many switches across hundreds of layers. A dedicated filament path lets the printer leave each material loaded in its own tool. The company also demonstrated mixed nozzle diameters within one print, so a fine nozzle can handle small markings while a wider nozzle handles larger areas.
What to test on your own parts
Pick a project you already print and compare the full job: setup, tool changes, material used, and any cleanup. For a part with a flexible grip and rigid body, check adhesion at the join before committing to a batch. For a multicolor part, compare the same geometry and color layout so the time comparison reflects the printing workflow.
Keep spare spools ready
The H3C’s AMS 3H includes two active drying slots. If you are preparing spare spools away from the machine or running a separate FDM setup, the ANTINSKY FilaBox is a standalone drying option. Check your spool dimensions and filament maker’s drying temperature before choosing a setting.
