How do I Dial in Any Resin?

Incorrect exposure time is one of the primary reasons why 3D prints fail. In this article, we will use Phrozen XP Finder to guide you through the process of dialing in your resin correctly.

  1. Download the Phrozen XP Finder onto your computer.
  2. Load the test print file onto your slicer software and key in your desired exposure value.
  3. Save it as a file compatible with your 3D printer, and make sure to save it onto your USB drive.
  4. Print the file with your resin 3D printer.
  5. Read the results and adjust as necessary.

Prints tend to shrink when underexposed and expand when overexposed. When analyzing the Phrozen XP Finder, always check for minor distortions in the small details.

Step 1: Text

The goal is to print out clear text. When overexposed, the text will be blurred and expand; when underexposed, some text will be missing.

Tips:
When overexposed, the space of the alphabet "e" will be full; when underexposed, the dot of the alphabet "i" will not show up.

Step 2: Pillars

The goal is to print out as many pillars as possible and to evaluate if the print is underexposed. When underexposed, some pillars may not appear. When overexposed, some pillars will expand.

Step 3: Boards

The goal is to print out as many boards as possible while ensuring that the rectangles don't merge. When underexposed, some boards will vanish. Whereas when the print is overexposed, the boards will blend in together.

Step 4: Boundary Lines

The goal is to print out clear lines. When overexposed, the lines will expand; when underexposed, some lines will vanish.

Additional Note

1. There are multiple resins and 3D printers on the market. Please feel free to test out different values and adjust them to your needs.

2. After finding the perfect settings on the Phrozen XP Print, we recommend increasing the normal layer exposure time by at least +10% on an actual print and by +20% on large models above 12cm.
