Why are my 3D Prints Uneven in Color?
What’s Wrong with my Resin 3D Print?
When inspecting your 3D print, you notice that part of your 3D print is uneven in color with obvious discoloration. After washing and curing, minor scratches or even cracks may appear across the surface.
What Causes the Issue?
Uneven coloring or discoloration on parts of the 3D print is usually due to resin not being mixed thoroughly. If resin hasn’t been used for a while, pigments within the resin start to settle to the bottom, which causes sedimentation and may affect printing results.
Troubleshooting the Uneven Coloring Issue
Mixing the Resin
If the resin vat is empty while resin is still inside the bottle, shake evenly for approximately 30 seconds to 1 minute. As resin is shaken, the sediments will distribute evenly, meaning that discolored prints should not be an issue when printing anymore.
If resin is already in the vat, please mix the resin with the yellow scraper included in your toolbox for approximately 30 seconds to 1 minute. When in contact with the FEP film, make sure not to use excessive force.
